What are these? They look like very sharp mountains, but I tend to think they are a glitch of the program.., anyone seen these before?

I used to live not more than 5 miles from these "mountains" and I can guarantee you there is nothing like that there. Must be, as you say, a glitch.

If you turn off the Terrain, I think that you will see these are lakes/ ponds. It appears to me that the relfection messed up the satellite reading. Then no one found that error when going back through the data.

I think you've found the reason, mcshea. The only other question is why didn't other lakes in the same area cause the same effect? I've found similar data anomalies in mountainous areas, where they are not quite so obvious, unless you notice where the road is going . The different thing about these is that they occur where the flat view is "smeared".

This reminds me on this old thread. Seems similar to this error. But has been repaired...

The California false peaks you noted here have been fixed with the terrain updates of 2 June 2007.
