Hi Scotty
Nice find, but let me tell you that's not a glider It appears to be a Cessna 150 (or any similar model) which is actually taking off: check out its position on the runway, it would be veeery short of room to land

Good call, B
What a beautiful place. It looks as if there are a couple of beautiful Big Boys' Toys as well, on the south side of the runway, near the eastern end. YAK-52s, would you say?
More info on NZ YAKs: here.
Cheers

I jumped the gun on this one. It's clear enought to see the spinner in the shadow.

Frank, you are correct. Those two Yak's at NZUN are the lead and trail aircraft in this photo. (owned/flown by Rik and Doug respectively)

Pauanui is a great "playground" for aviation enthusiasts. A number of the houses down the south side of the runway have hangars underneath with all sorts of interesting toys.
The GE imagery of this area look like it has been refreshed quite recently. In fact it looks like the Thames Coromandel District Council has licensed a whole bunch of recent aerial photography around the whole region.
Cheers
E.
