I seem to have a knack for finding weird stuff. Heres something I found whilst looking for the Alaska pipeline.

Looks to me like a helicopter platform of a oil rig.

I believe it's just a registration tab on the film (note the crosshair below the number)

No shadow from it... How about a tag on the image used? Someone must have forgotten to remove it before use.

I also believe it's a registration tab on the film, nice observation dude!
Nevertheless... it's the scariest thing I've ever seen... LOL Greetings, F_

I think it's illegal for anyone but the owner (of the Earth in this case) to remove tags.
Or was that from mattresses?

I can't speak authoritatively, but it might help to understand image tags as one of the many artifacts you get when you stitch together an array of visual products. First mistake I see new Google Earthers making (and I'm an old hand - been around a month or so!) is assuming there is a single, live, photographic view of the earth. NEITHER of those is true.
So what you see with GE is a Frankenstein world of lots of different satellite pictures from different sattelites and different times stitched together. In that stitching you can see bad seams, holes, different materials (different colors and resolutions), missing and duplicate items, and in this case, likely something that was on one of the satellite photographs that wasn't cropped out. The tag is probably just some identifying information for a part of a larger grid of photographs.
Copy and past these coordinates in the "fly to" search box:
32.368137 -64.665064
and you can see an artifact on the edge of the Bermuda Triangle . . . or IS it an artifact?
