this placemarks show the key facilities of the Nazi concentration camp.
I have been there myself so believe me its a horrible place to visit.
31,591people were killed by statute labour or executed by the SS there.
the prisoners were mainly communists or other ' Enemies of the Reich '. the gas chambers were luckily never used.
Dachau was liberated on April 29, 1945 by the 42nd Infantry Division of the U.S. 7th Army

I don't know where you got your information from, but I have written testimony from one who was there, that between 1940/42 the gas chambers claimed some 300 lives PER DAY.

Addendum:

The book I was quoting from was given to my family in 1966 by the author, an ex Dachau inmate, has unbeknown to me been subsequently edited by the aforementioned author, to state that the Dachau gas chambers were not used as they were too small.
The unfortunates were transported to Hartheim in Austria to be gassed.

Since I did some additional reasearch, too, and found out that there is the posibility that the chamber was used for experiments with chemical weapones.
Those accounts can no longer be verified by documents, since the SS burned most of the documents about anything what was happening during their reign.
Those events seem to be conducted very infrequently and attribute just a very minor number of deaths. estimates are well below 50, altogether.
