Since 1996, real time work being done to simulate a Martian base here in the summer ending on August 1 each year, here on the Haynes Ridge towards the crater and Lowell Canal to the west. Landing strip and base camp is nearby: The Mars Society operates this research site: [url=http://www.marsonearth.org/about/devon.html]http://www.marsonearth.org/about/devon.

Tom,
Thanks for the post, but it is misleading in giving the impression that the station is an undertaking of the Mars Institute. Our friends at the Mars Institude had no part in setting up the Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station (FMARS), since it didn't exist then, and it has no involvement in its maintenance or operation.
FMARS was established, and is maintained and operated by The Mars Society. Your coordinates are also a little off; 75°25'53.04"N 89°49'23.03"W would be right next to the station.
Following the Google Earth guidelines to avoid crowding the world with placemarks, would you consider editing your post to move your placemark closer to the hab and correct your description?
Cheers,

Greetings lagj,
Oh Lord, did I say institute?? I didn't mean that! I'm a member of the Mars Society and have friends there.
Would be happy to send GOOGLE the updated placemark, but it is beyond my control to move the "placemark" to the proper place, that is done by The Google Earth folks. When I've done it before, they have not been quick to update.
I didn't want to encroach on the exact location of the hab as it prevents folks from seeing the important objects. I did include the exact location you sent. Is that satisfactory?
Think cosmic, TomT
* P.S. Where do you 'hail' from?

Starmon, you can edit your original post and replace the attachment (placemark) with a new, correctly-placed placemark of this location. Then, after the next layer update, the placemark will be in the correct spot. Let me know if you have questions!
