54 Archaeological Sites in Greece. All are in high resolution area (at least 50 else are in still low resolution area) and for all of them the site is well seen from space (no underground or very small site).
If you want to know more about this sites, go to the wonderfull web site of the Hellenic ministry of Culture : http://www.culture.gr/cgi-bin/showfr.cgi?1/1/http://www.culture.gr/2/21/toc/cult_map.html

Je suis heureux par le fait que tes repères contiennent le site archéologique de Maroneia,un site pas connu bien malgré sa importance sur le développement de la Grèce antique.(Il y a un théâtre antique et des nouveaux choses sont découvertes trop souvent).

A correction!!!
The Temple of Epikourios Apollo in Bassae is located a bit more to the South than you placemark!
Please follow coordinates 37.429358° 21.899755° to find it. The new satelite images are perfect!!!

Aiane's placemark is wrong. It should be located about 3km to the west. Aiane's (or Eani's) coordinates are:
N 40° 10' 0'' E 21° 52' 0'' 40.16667 / 21.86667

Over the past couple of days I have put together a list of some 300 ancient Greek and Roman sites (mostly) in high res areas. Place names are spelled as in the Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World. I intend eventually to make it quite complete, so input is quite welcome.

Post is updated with hundreds of more sites, and I am working on links to images in the data base of slides at the Dept. of Classical Archaeology at University of Aarhus.
29 May 2007
Now over 400 sites in high res. Approx. half the sites have links to images
4 September 2007
More sites, more images
21 September 2007
More sites and a few corrections. Among these the theare in Tarragona/Tarraco, which I had placed in the modern open air theatre!
1 November 2007
Yet more sites
4 April 2008
Now more than 800 sites in high res and significantly more links to images from the sites
Also check out http://pleiades.stoa.org This project will eventually be very very usefull.

Very impressed with your post and only noticed one error. In Tarragona (ancient Tarraco) you've located the theatre where the modern outdoor venue is. The theatre is, in fact, hard to find and hidden by hoarding in the depths of the city. I've attached a placemark for it.
Cheers

Great set of sites, thx. As I was there last summer, here's a little correction on the marker "Chamaizi, ou ?" already existent among the locations. It is a small dig-site on crete presenting an ancient house. The exact coordinates are those below, if someone is intestested in them. The place is hard to find (in real life, e.g. on crete), but impressive view from that hill. Chamaizi coordinates: 35°10'3.76"N 26° 1'5.87"O
Cheers!
