Google Earth Community: Arqueología en Puebla (Archaeology in Puebla)

Due to the geographic location of the state of Puebla, it was cradle of important Hispanic cultures since the constant social and economic interchange with otomíes groups, xicalancas, totonacas, popolocas, teotihuacanos, toltecas, olmecas, mixtecos and the other originating of the Central Plateau, of the valley of Morelos, Oaxaca, Coast of the Gulf, Southeastern and valley of Mexico marked their influence since some even settled down throughout their territory as they show the archaeological ruins to it, that to date are not well studied and in badly been, these cultures finally were put under by the Aztecs but its initial destruction obeys later to the conquerors and to negligence and unconscious sacking.

Debido a la ubicación geográfica del estado de Puebla, fue cuna de importantes culturas prehispánicas ya que el constante intercambio social y económico con grupos otomíes, xicalancas, totonacas, popolocas, teotihuacanos, toltecas, olmecas, mixtecos y otros provenientes del Altiplano Central, del valle de Morelos, Oaxaca, la Costa del Golfo, Sureste y valle de México marcaron su influencia ya que incluso algunos se establecieron a lo largo de su territorio como lo muestran las ruinas arqueológicas, que hasta la fecha no se encuentran bien estudiadas y en mal estado, estas culturas finalmente fueron sometidas por los Aztecas pero su destrucción inicial obedece a los conquistadores y posteriormente al descuido e inconsciente saqueo.

Ruins of Yohualichan

One is a ceremonial center that settled down on a series of natural platforms that see towards the North. In the environs of the pre-Hispanic establishment is the habitacional area the one that, until today, has not been studied.

These ruins consist of a rectangular seat, around which there are five knolls or pyramids with different number of plinths and vestiges of temples in his tops. Although all the knolls have not been excavated, is appraised with clarity a style unit, fundamentally given by the niches that drill the piramidales plinths. In the place I could be appreciated a game of ball of 90 meters in length.

Se trata de un centro ceremonial que se estableció sobre una serie de plataformas naturales que ven hacia el Norte. En las inmediaciones del asentamiento prehispánico se encuentra el área habitacional la que, hasta hoy, no ha sido estudiada.

Estas ruinas constan de una plaza rectangular, alrededor de la cual hay cinco montículos o pirámides con distinto número de basamentos y vestigios de templos en sus cimas. Aunque no todos los montículos se han excavado, se aprecia con claridad una unidad de estilo, primordialmente dada por los nichos que horadan los basamentos piramidales. En el lugar se pude apreciar un juego de pelota de 90 metros de longitud.

The archaeological zone is located in the high part of a hill limited in its three sides by ravines; being a site fortified with a great stone wall that surrounds it, the outer walls were raised with an inclination of 80 degrees.

You fold them of the land were taken advantage of for the construction, having created five levels interlaced with perrons and accesses emphasizing its wrought stone walls.

La zona arqueológica se localiza en la parte alta de un cerro limitado en sus tres lados por barrancas; siendo un sitio fortificado con una gran muralla de piedra que la rodea, los muros exteriores fueron levantados con una inclinación de 80 grados.

Los pliegues del terreno fueron aprovechados para la construcción, creando cinco niveles entrelazados con escalinatas y accesos destacando sus muros de piedra labrada.

Ruins in Tepapayeca

Aunque la zona arqueológica apenas comienza a explorarse. Por ahora se observan sólo dos basamentos, pues varios otros permanecen bajo las casas actuales del poblado, se sabe que el centro ceremonial consta de cinco edificios, con diversas etapas constructivas en su interior.

Ruins in Cantona

The site includes near 12 kilometers square; in the South part, that is the best one conserved is the Acropolis (area where the main structures are located that gave shelter to the political powers, economic and religious), in sector V 620 patios and 997 knolls were detected, including habitacionales units, portable altars and pyramids.

The site Integra by infinity of patios of approximately 50 xs 40 meters, or still greater, in the superior part, were located the temples, games of ball (24 have been located) and the houses of heads and leaders.

El sitio abarca cerca de 12 kilómetros cuadrados; en la parte sur, que es la mejor conservada se encuentra la Acrópolis (área donde se localizan las principales estructuras que dieron albergue a los poderes políticos, económicos y religiosos), en el sector V se detectaron 620 patios y 997 montículos, incluyendo unidades habitacionales, adoratorios y pirámides.

El sitio se integra por infinidad de patios de aproximadamente 50 x 40 metros, o aún mayores, en la parte superior, se ubicaban los templos, juegos de pelota (se han localizado 24) y las viviendas de jefes y dirigentes.

En la región se encuentran numerosas zonas arqueológicas que se hallan separadas entre sí por casas, bardas, jardines y huertas. En el centro del pueblo se localizan los restos de una pirámide truncada. En total son 3 pirámides.

Se localiza en el antiguo camino hacia el potrero de Xonaca, en una de sus caras irregulares muestra un eclipse de luna. Se cree que fue representada por los antiguos pobladores de la región en su éxodo hacia otros lugares como Cholula. En la Plaza Principal de Xonaca se exhiben piezas arqueológicas como la Piedra Máscara y la piedra del Coyote.

Ruins in Teteles

These ruins of native type are in the North end of the locality and includes a series of knolls that comprised of a pre-Hispanic establishment. Account with a rectangular seat, whose longitudinal axis is oriented of north to the south. It is delimited to the east by the knoll that probably was the main pyramid; smaller others are in the South side and the west. To the moved away southwest and of the seat one rises, among others, the knoll of greater height.

Estas ruinas de tipo autóctono se encuentran en el extremo norte de la localidad y comprende una serie de montículos que formaron parte de un asentamiento prehispánico. Cuenta con una plaza rectangular, cuyo eje longitudinal se orienta de norte a sur. Está delimitada al oriente por el montí[fluffy bunnies] que probablemente fue la pirámide principal; otros más pequeños se encuentran en el lado sur y poniente. Al suroeste y alejado de la plaza se levanta, entre otros, el montí[fluffy bunnies] de mayor altura.

Ruins in San Andrés Chalchicomula

This archaeological zone gives testimony of the presence of Quetzalcóatl: buildings, game of ball and teteles; in these last ones, the rest of the main governors of the mesoamericano world like offering and tribute were deposited to the legendary personage.

Esta zona arqueológica da testimonio de la presencia de Quetzalcóatl: edificios, juego de pelota y teteles; en estos últimos, se depositaban los restos de los principales gobernantes del mundo mesoamericano como ofrenda y tributo al legendario personaje.
