The file shows an autumn migration route of an Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) from Finland to Senegal. It is a result of a research project to monitor the life of a male Osprey named "Pete", with the help of a GPS satellite transmitter.
Pete left its nesting grounds in Finland on 18 September 2007 and flew southeast through Central Europe to West Africa. Pete arrived at his probable final destination in Senegal on 23 October, a place well known to him from previous years of wintering.

I wish Pete Happy Holidays !
Looking it here in GE I almost envy those birds. I wonder if he hesitated in central Morocco ?

Pete spent six days in central Morocco fishing at the reservoir seen in the image.
He probably spent at least few of the nights sitting on top of electricity poles: the shadows of the poles can been seen with GE. Quoting from the route description written by Pertti Saurola:
"All five night fixes (at 18-06; P125-129) were recorded some 20-40 m from an (electricity) pole 3.5 km northeast of the east end of the reservoir and only 230 km from the main road. Though the GPS fixes are supposed to be +-18 metres accurate, I believe that Pete stayed on this pole all night."
Telling this would not have been possible with ordinary maps
