North American Water Pipelines Project

The North American Water Pipelines Project is a proposal for the development of a system of fresh water pipelines that could be used to pipe water from the Arctic down to the southwestern desert regions of the North American continent.

I think money spent on developing ways to colonize the Moon or Mars are a huge waste of money and energy. How can we colonize extraterrestial bodies if we have barely begun to colonize vast regions of our own celestial Earth that are currently uninhabitable? Once we have developed sustainable methods for growing crops in regions that are currently deserted, then we can cast our vision back out to the stars.

Money wasted on projects to colonize the Moon or Mars can be used to instead transform the southwestern region of the North American continent from a desert into a fertile region producing crops and sustaining communities of families.
