The Definitive Source of the River Thames

Here is the confirmed location of the source of the River Thames.



Under this old ash tree is a ring of stones guarding the spring that today is recognised to be the source of the river Thames. Behind is a stone that bares the inscription 'The Conservators of the River Thames 1857 - 1974. This stone was placed here to mark the source of the River Thames'. My placemark was confirmed by a local resident who lives less than half-a-mile from the source. Hi-def photo (238K) here

If you go here you will find some fascinating background, pictures and videos of the source. The videos, from January 2008, are amazing!

If you do download the videos, 100_7163 & 100_7165 were taken from beside the source.
