How do I add to the set of places?

How do I add to the list of places marked on Google Earth Community?

I placed a marker in Google Earth (the program) and posted it (using File->Share/Post) onto the Earth Browsing forum. I tried to see the added place on my friends machine but it does not show up. How do I add a location (such as the name of an apertment complex) that can be viewed by other people?

Note - I am not trying to add yet another "my house" placemark. I am trying to add the names of buildings in my locality.
