Vertical orbit curtain describing cloud vertical structure of typhoon Prapiroon (Radar Reflectivity, dBZ) derived from CloudSat satellite. The Cloudsat instrument is viewing the typhoon Prapiroon (August 2nd, 2006). On this date, the typhoon was located over the South China sea and the CloudSat parameter shown is the Radar Reflectivity parameter (unit: dBZ). The heights of the highest clouds are ~15 kms and substantial convective activity can be seen within the vertical structure of the typhoon. 3D Visualization of Typhoon Prapiroon II 3D Visualization of Typhoon Prapiroon III Created by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. http://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/ http://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/googleearth/index.shtml References: A-Train Data Depot: http://disc.gsfc.nasa.gov/atdd/ GIOVANNI: http://giovanni.gsfc.nasa.gov CloudSat http://cloudsat.atmos.colostate.edu/ This is how it looks:
