My Wilminton roots go back into the 1800's.
My father told me that he once saw some old aerial maps of Wilmington that showed the city and surrounding area sitting in ancient meteor craters such as the 'Carolina Holes' off of Chalreston. This could very well explain the features off the coast of Masonboro Inlet.
