I am today in Acapulco, visited the beach called Pie de la Cuesta, just a few minutes south of the waves in the laguna. Unfortunately I forgot to ask the owner of the place if fishing is conducted there with explosives. I seriously doubt it, since there is a military airport just west of the site and Mexico actually has laws that prohibit the use of explosives for fishing.

Anyway, I'll return in August 2007 and will ask further about fishing practices/earthquakes and strange waves.
