Contrails are interesting for the plane spotters in the Transportation forum. However, they obscure the ground visibility, so they can be viewed also as image blemishes. See the typical Belgian contrail below.
They are usually accompanied by a parallel bluish "ghost" image of the plane and contrail. "AZTraveller" provides a good succinct explanation HERE and a much lengthier, scholarly one HERE.
