Spent the better part of four years at the 440th while I was in the CAP during the early 80's. Aside from the lone C-130H on the ramp, can you spot the following aircraft on the base?

C-119 Flying Boxcar
F-80 Shooting Star
F-4 Phantom II


Then take a stroll one mile to the N/E and you'll find the 128th Air Refueling Wing ramp sporting 3 KC-135R's and a fourth poking its tail out of the hanger.


Do you remember the DC-9 that crashed just south of the 440th back in 1985?

42 55'41.65" N 87 54'08.19" W (0.28mi south of the fuel tank)
you can still see the main crater and the two smaller engine craters. For the next two weeks we did recovery of remains, searched for the shelled engine components, site clean up and partial rebuilding of the airframe in a hanger at the 440th.
