Re: Ancient Impact Crater Evidence North E of Santa FE

Information about this crater is still sketchy. But it has been added to the PASSC Earth Impact Database. There is a pdf. file about findings so far here. The same paper has an image of the shatter cones (below). Although large, they are way too small to be visible in the available imagery.



By the way, I found another source (which I can not re-find right now) that gives very precise coordinates, probably gps, of the shatter cone location ( 35.728277, -105.85966 ). It about 0.45 km further east along the road.

About 9 km away to the ESE are some interesting rock layers that appear to have been turned vertically. I wonder if there is a connection? Click on the attachment to see the location.
