Geomagnetic South Pole, year 2006 IGRF model

South Geomagnetic Pole, for year 2006. 'IGRF Model Magnetic Dip Pole' position based upon the magnetic Gauss coefficients of the spherical harmonic analysis obtained from the best fitting of data from observatories at different points on the earth.
Image below shows trace in blue color, of South Geomagnetic Pole movement over approximately the past 100 years.

Note: Do not confuse this placemark with the Magnetic South Pole or South Magnetic Dip Pole which is the point where the compass needles tend to align toward in the Southern Hemisphere. The movement of the South Magnetic Dip Pole is shown as a green trace on the above map.
