Here's a set of placemarks for all the stops in The Motorcycle Diaries, the movie about a 1952 motorcycle trip through South America by Ernesto (Che) Guevara and Alberto Granada. The placemarks contain some movie spoilers but eh, we all know what happened eventually. Politics take a back seat to incredible scenery in this movie. Ernesto is a young, idealistic medical student - his future as a revolutionary/household name/t-shirt icon is years away, although his awakening to that future was born on this trip. At heart this is really a stunning travelogue and a roadtrip/buddy movie. It was based on books about the trip by both Guevara and Granada, now 83, who was involved in making the movie. Setting out for a grand adventure Crossing Lago Frias from Argentina into Chile ![]() Crossing Chile's Atacama Desert ![]() Overwhelmed by Machu Picchu ![]() Leaving the San Pablo leper colony in Peru ![]() Director Walter Salles, the real Alberto Granado (who is played by Rodrigo De La Serna), and Gael Garcia Bernal who plays Ernesto Guevara ![]() Some placemarks are duplicates of priors.. including one by me but hey, I am adding new info )
