EMLÉKPONT (RemembrancePoint)

History welcomes at 800 square meters the inquiring guests at Hódmezövásárhely in the Remembrancepoint Museum & Education centre. The collection based upon 150 local personal remembrances and 40 researchers one and a half year work wich covers Hódmezövásárhely's history between 1945 and 1990.

Cognition, understanding and remembrance: These three idea are the foot-stones of the Museum, Mayor of Hodmezövásárhely emphasised. This is the first Museum in Hungary wich presents the years of the Kommunist resime through a history of a city. Notes, photos, interviews tests for the past 50 years.

We would like to left behind the past 50 years and the past 16 years by talking about it. Everybody tells what should be told, the things that should be mourn, and remember the things wich makes one proud or explains why someone was took part of the Kommunist resime.- said János Lázár the mayor of Hódmezövásárhely.

Mária Schmidt, the director of the House of Terror in Budapest was talking about the name of the Museum.

- The reason why we named the Museum Remembrancepoint is because we think it means that a period is over, and how we put a point in to the end of a sentence, we put a point to that period so it cannot be continued.- said the historian

The city spent 700 million forints to build this Museum wich have an other mission: to serve as an education center. The presented remembrances will be teached in the schools of Hódmezövásárhely also.
