The Moon is far too bright and would ruin the instruments. You can do quite a good job with a medium aperture telescope and domestic digital camera. This link shows a sample: http://philippugh.fortunecity.com/Gallery_Moon.html Also Hubble can't point within 15 degrees of the Sun but Mercury and Venus are both capable of wandering outside this range.
