Longleaf

Longleaf consists of 400 acres of former Longleaf pine forest and the original home of the Creek Indians. After the area was settled by my ancestors who migrated from Maryland, South Carolina and Georgia, the Longleaf pine was cut and shipped to the Northeast US and Europe to provide wood for the Industrial Revolution. After most of the Longleaf forests were cut down they were replaced by a faster growing Loblolly pine. Longleaf Camp is being developed to restore Longleaf to this area and provide a camp for relatives and friends to experience the area as our ancestors did for generations.

An abandoned look out tower has been moved to the site to provide an observation views of the more than than 150,000 Longleaf that has been restored so far. The original home of Lonnie and Lilly Skipper Williams, parents of Hank Williams still stands on the property.
