The Cessna Skymaster is a United States twin-engine civil utility aircraft built in a push-pull configuration. Instead of the engines being mounted on the wings, one is mounted in the nose and the other at the rear of the pod-style fuselage. The vertical stabilizers are mounted on twin booms that extend from the wings. The rear engine is between the booms and the horizontal stabilizer is aft of the pusher propeller, mounted between the two booms. The combination of a tractor and a pusher engine produces a unique sound. ______________________________________________________________ The Cessna Skymaster is a United States twin-engine civil utility aircraft built in a push-pull configuration. Thank you dgt, will be added! ___________________________________________________________ To Everybody, I was thinking, there are so few O-2 Skymasters on display in the world that could make this collection a little more interesting. Here's my idea: Make this collection not only of the USAF O-2 Skymasters, but also of all the 336 Skymasters, and 337 Super Skymasters. Cessna built 2993 Skymasters of all variants so I'm sure there are thousands of Skymasters just waiting to be found. If anyone agrees just reply to this with your finds of 337's and other O-2's to this thread. Thank you, jtouran List will be called The O-2 and 337 Skymaster List |

This Cessna 337/0-2 is near ghost town, Rhyolite, NV, at 36°52'8.27"N....116°47'3.26"W. (Beatty, Nevada) My attention was drawn to this air strip after viewing nearby Rhyolite, a ghost town of some note. "The town came into existence as the result of a gold rush that began in 1904, and had its peak population from 1905 to 1910, when decreased gold production led to a decline that culminated in its abandonment by 1919." - Wikipedia. But, my attention was drawn to this area by a Clive Cussler novel, The Chase, in which the original boomtown is vividly described. Therein lies one of the beauties of Google Earth: novels come alive on your computer screen, complete with street names, railroad tracks and historic buildings. |
