3D Animation For Sky - Han Solo Escapes

I decided I wanted to experiment with 3D in Sky. So, naturally I chose a good subject - Star Wars. Since you can't tilt your view in Sky, you need to do something to show the dimensions better. I went and found a decent 3D model from the Google 3D Warehouse, and then used SketchUp to place a model in Google Earth. You need to add some altitude to place it into Sky.

Anyway, I asked 'jpwade' to help create a little animation. And you can see the results by viewing the attached file.

Switch to Sky view, and then double click on the Sky3d folder. Just hit the right-arrow "play" button to the right of the time slider to start the animation. Try out the Camera Views folder and double click on the different views while the animation is playing.

Thanks Joey, and to IDW who posted the original model to the 3D Warehouse.

Marvellous!

Many thanks. I've not looked at animation at all yet, but if this is the kind of result that's possible I think I shall have to have a go.

This animation loads quicker and runs much smoother with the new GE release 4.3.7204.0836 (beta).

Animations are greatly enhanced with the new GE version.
