Inspired by PenquinOpus' original post, I took a subset of frames from the Oct 1, 2004 video and spliced them into a new timeline animation. (source: WebCam) Ultimately it would be great to have these as textures on a polygon, instead of a screenoverlay. Finally found the famous 1980 photos by Gary Rosenquist: USGS site 3D cloud: post |

Actually, it's pretty easy to add these to a texture polygon, I've done this with webcams, although to get any reasonable efficiency you need to make a separate collada object for each timestep. I did a quick test of this with four webcams and a conference room, in which our server automatically generates a kml files and a series of .dae and .jpg files for putting each webcam's image on a wall. Here's a screenshot: http://www.kaszeta.org/rich/download/conf_room.jpg (If I can get this converted to use external urls instead of internal ones, I'll post a link for it) |

Nice composit photo, but your marker is not at Bear Meadow. Bear Meadow is at: 46 18 49.95N, 122 02 11.24W. Your marker is about 6 miles off. |
