Looks like an overlap area from the image stitching process. There are a couple like that elsewhere.

looks like a seasonal stream crossing an alluvial fan, and the dark tones my indicate a bit of a meadow. Perhaps it is a flatter spot where the water slows sufficiently to not carve a channel. If you look to the north you'll see even darker areas.
