Hi, Google has a data center in my home town of Groningen, The Netherlands. It's more or less a publicly known secret that the building is stuffed with a Google "10.000 server cluster", that probably is used to serve Google's webservices to Northern Europe. It's really great to see all those servers with a small Google logo on it doing their work. Unfortunately I haven't got any pictures of the inside of the building. To pepper up this posting I did take some outside pictures from my car when I drove past it earlier today ![]() ![]() ![]() I visited the building several times in the past, because my former employer had some servers hosted in there. At that time the whole building was practically empty, only a small corner in the back contained some servers (six of 'em were ours). Networking giant Tyco had built the building, because they expected a lot of companies would put their servers in the building. Unfortunately (for Tyco) that never happened. For about a year Google has rented almost the whole building and put their servers in there. Last news is that since Google has entered the building, other companies want to put their servers there too I even heard of plans for a second building!
