No_Stranger recently enquired re aircraft ID resources. The purpose of this post is to pull (pool?) the various replies together to make one reference source. theaviationzone Bearcraft globalsecurity.org airliners.net Federation of American Scientists All the World's Rotorcraft Alain's Airliners Aerospaceweb combataircraft.com Warbird Alley jetphotos.net http://www.oldprops.ukhome.net/ http://www.military-aircraft.org.uk/ http://www.coastcomp.com/av/pres/index.htm http://www.demobbed.org.uk/ http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php With acknowledgements to Delta102, saukko, Hill, Bebop and Carmedic. If you know of any other sites/resources that may interest the GE aviation buff, please respond to this post, and I'll include your suggests. Cheers Frank |

Hi Cyclonic, your ID files of pics are very good, I think they would be appreciated on this list as well. Have fun, Cheers. |

I've placed a separate link to Cyclonic's ID Helper in the body of the main aircraft file post, alongside a link to this post. The resources I've listed here are pretty good for confirming or rejecting an ID, but Cyclonic's image is excellent for making the first tentative stab at it, since it's much easier to compare aircraft almost side-by-side, rather than trying to flick through URLs. My advice to the complete novice at aircraft ID would be to use Cyc's helper first, then to look it up in one of the other resources to make it positive. Although, having said that, it's sometimes difficult to be positive in GE, due to resolution issues. Cheers Frank |

Thanks Carmedic, I've added them to the list and stickied it as requested. As Bebop says, it's already featured in the small print in Cyclonic's AAIF file, but it doesn't hurt to spread the word! ![]() Cheers, Frank |

Check this - http://www.pilotoutlook.com/aircraft/manufacturers/ They show over 400K aircrafts in this directory + all manufacturers etc. I can actually help create a KML for all 400K aircrafts, if you are interested. Thanks, |

I recently updated this old post in the military forum , but I think most of the resources are still quite useful when trying to identify military aircraft. One of the links not already mentioned (and that I <used to?> regularly use) is Scramble Order of Battle lists |
