I swear it was there!

Last summer we built a pool. This spring, I could see it on Google Earth. Now I cannot. It's gone. In fact, the image there now was taken March 21, 2004!!! It's even older than the previous image before the pool.

Why would this be?

Google does not own any of the images in Google Earth, but rather, they license the images from imaging companies. It could be that an image was replaced with another image from another company. Sometimes, newer images are replaced with older images, but the older images are higher resolution. Do you notice that these "new" images are higher resolution than the "older" images?

It's complicated business...

I don't think our specific image is higher res, but yes, the surrounding area definitely is.

Sad that they have to go backwards in time to get a better quality image.
