Hello! I have a problem that I can not import adresses. After I have clicked open and filled in all the values of the import guide it just says "table open() fails". Does anyone have a clue why? |

Hello, Welcome to the GE Community! This has come up before and was a problem with the text format and (possibly hidden) control characters - have a look at this thread: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/721577 ![]() Cheers, Simon. |

Hmm, too bad. I don't have access to any non-windows textclients now. I tried it in some other textclients, lite Notepad++ but the result was the same. Also, I read something that you can only import adresses from USA and a few other countries. Is this true? Because you can find adresses all over the globe, why coulden't you import them then? |

Hello, If you have access to MS Excel, you could try this tool to create a KML file to open with GE: http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/Cat/0/Number/645546 As far as address lookups go, I was under the impression that anything that returns co-ordinates successfully using the Search pane in GE should work just fine with an import or using the <address> tags in a KML file (this is what that Excel tool does). Did you have any addresses in mind? If you post a couple of examples, I or someone else could test them for you... If you want to post your import file, we could have a go at getting it into GE also. ![]() Cheers, Simon. |

Hmm, I think I have solved most of the problems. The main problem right now is that I have non-ASCII charcters in the adresses, since they're Swedish. I have saved everything as a string in a .txt-file, and it shows up right when I look at it there. But when I import them the non-ASCII charcters are just garbage. I have posted an small import file. The data looks like this: name, adress, city |

Hello, I don't think this is necessarily to do with the special characters - more that, Sweden isn't covered by the ability to lookup addresses to street-level ![]() Have a look at the text import section of the GE guide - specifically the section called "Using Addresses": http://earth.google.com/userguide/v4/ug_importdata.html Note the following quote from this page: Quote: Hofors will turn up a location - but not the streets. ![]() Simon. |
