I am here at the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, a highly regarded grad school in the urban planning field, and I have noticed that a) Google Earth is installed on several computers, but b) it crashes on those computers by suddenly and randomly shutting down. There are only a few people authorized to install and uninstall programs on school computers. The computers in questions are Dell Precision 390 units with nVIDIA graphics cards. The programs on the computers include Internet browsers, professional computer-aided design programs, Google SketchUp and LayOut, Microsoft Office, ArcGIS programs, Scenario 360, QSR N6, Secure Shell (SSH), TrueCrypt, statistics programs such as SPSS and/or STATA, and a couple of media players (Quicktime and Windows). I wonder if any of the above programs or combinations thereof may be causing Google Earth to crash. (Note: Google Earth 4.2 is apparently on the computers and is thus apparently the version crashing.)
