GE broken display on Xorg 7.0 with Intel 945GM

Hello,
on a fresh ubuntu installation GE comes up and starts, but the display is broken, the
image is displayed just in the upper 1/3 of the window. The rest seems to be disturbed
when I turn the earth or something else.
Any hints?
The opengl stuff seems to work somehow, I using 7.0.0, with glxinfo:

I installed the packages from http://xgl.compiz.info/ (Currently
unavailable) . Now GE comes up with correct display but it's awfull
slow. Managing a screen image takes up 20-30 seconds. This is caused
by the network connection. Same hardware, same network acces runs just
fine when using windows.
But I'd like to kick windoze away ;-)

I just ordered a 7600gs pci-e card from newegg.com. I hope it is better.
