Apparently, this 10,000 square foot island in the middle of Island Pond is not actually attached to the ground... it floats! It recently got pushed by the wind over to a man's yard and had to be towed back out into the middle of the pond, as you can read in this article: http://www.boston.com/news/local/massach...middle_of_pond/ |

Call that a pond? I call that a lake! It's huge. A pond should be just big enough to hold 5 ducks not a fleet of war ships! |

The floating island made the front page of the NY Times today - a small pond makes it to the big leagues at last! NY Times article on Floating Island I attended Cathedral High back in the '70s, and now live in NY City, so it was a real treat to see the school on the front page of my Sunday paper. (I came here thinking I'd earn a placemark, only to find that FoxholeAtheist -- and the Boston Globe -- beat me to it.)
