Hello, there is a "forbidden zone" on Mars accurately avoided by Hirise project. It is a zone full of strange features (photographed by MOC at low res), which resemble vegetation and lakes . Here's a map that explains the situation (dots are location of photographs taken by the Hirise resolution camera):

Hmmmmmm What exactly is the Hirise project? I suppose the colored dots are the trees? |

The HiRISE Camera is the latest to photograph Mars. It takes very detailed images of the Martian surface. It takes me about 15 minutes to download one of the pix . The online image viewer. gives a pretty good view. |

Quote: Hi, the Hirise project take very high res photos of the Mars surface (home page: http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/). Color dots are zones that were photographed. You can see that there are almost no pictures in the "forbidden zone". This zone contains a number of strange "formations", similar to forests and lakes (!), and it seems that people at Hirise accurately avoid it . if you want to give a look to these unusual features on Mars, you can visit: http://mmmgroup.altervista.org/e-trees.html where there are medium-res photos taken by another NASA probe, named MOC. Yes, there is something strange about those locations. But still... ... so far, most evidence for sustained wet conditions on Mars is limited to the planet's earliest history, the HiRISE scientists say. While water certainly flowed over the planet later in its history, it may have flowed only in short-lived, or catastrophic events. |

Felippo - I really admire your logic! Here's another thought... We just never know what we'll miss if we don't pay attention! A couple of years ago a Florida woman found the Virgin Mary on her sandwich! Photo (Personally, I think she looks more like Marlene Deitrich. )Anyway, this is more evidence of lakes and trees on Mars. NASA just isn't paying attention! |

Hi Diane - I wonder how many sandwiches have been made since the time of the famous John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, although sandwiches do go back to at least the time of the Old Testament. . There have probably been some with our own portraits on them at one time or another, perhaps even from before we were born. Prescient, huh? ![]() The universe is certainly a huge expanse with lots of pigments that wind up in lots of places, so all kinds of pictures must get "drawn" just by chance, given all the available time and space. We can probably find anything we want out there, or closer to home by looking at enough of these. |

Quote: Now , after you said this, I see Marlene Dietrich too. Thanks for reminding me on this Diane, it was in the german news too but I forgot about it. And now these "trees on mars" do not longer seem to be impossible to me. Those are "sings" and we should handle them with care. I remember when Peggy Bundy was holdin Al's shirt with sweatpatches on it, I saw Elvis, and I knew he is still alive, on mars. Al sweated Elvis ![]() Source: Youtube -min 6:45 ---:---:) Best Regards, Felippo
