Here are two more that I know of.

The first are Canberra Bombers (that what the other placemarks say), the second is located on top of a billboard advertising flying lessons. The propellor of this one spins in the breeze.

Strange though that with your dutch handle, you were missing the most visible dutch plane-on-a-pole.
So I added it. The F104G at Soesterberg AFB; Netherlands.
And using your example of google-earth HTML formatting I learned something myself

I have tried to attach a picture of a round square at Sao Paulo - Brazil. Where a very ancient plane replica of the 14BIS plane, made by the brazilian Roberto Santos Dumont, is.

This is an A-4 Skyhawk (painted in Blue Angel color scheme) at an interstate rest area near my city. You can see the gray support strut as it exits the rear of the plane and curves toward the ground.

Want a CF-104 in Norway too? I've been forgetting this gate guardian at Norwegian Defence Logistics Support Division,Kjeller.;

Canadair CF-104 c/n 104766.
You'll find the GE imagery a bit fuzzy,but the shadow on the ground is certainly 104-like @ 59 58'22.44"N 11 02' 21.03"E.

There's certainly something up a pole (two poles?) there, but the photo does not match the view; no trees.

the pic is one I found on the web. Perhaps it is an effect caused by the photographers angle. It is the plane though. Notice in GE, you can see the pole coming out of the planes, er, rear end.

Problem solved. The photo is from the summer of 2001. Here's another shot from June 2002:

Looks like they felled the trees some time between the two views!

There's another plane very close (100 meters west) to the Messtetten F-104. Might be a Phantom, but I'm not sure.

If you compare it's shadow to the shadow of the F-104, I'm not sure if it is on a pole or on the ground.

About seven years ago, Habenero's joined the small group of restaurants operating in Lee's Summit in a building designed by one of the owners who is an architect and a pilot. Joe Lange used a small airport office and control tower building as his guide, then added a Piper Tomahawk plane to the roof to draw attention.

Lange decided to put a real airplane on the roof to get the restaurant noticed, to get people talking and because it is easily seen from U.S. 50. The plane actually has no engine and is made of parts from several planes, so don't try to fly it off the roof after several margaritas.

The restaurant's logo shows a fighting Mexican pepper named "Habey" who pilots the plane and the restaurant is known as the "Home of the Flying Pepper." - Reference: reference" target="_blank">www.thex.info/stories/0403/0403019.shtmlreference

Port Moresby DC3 P2-ANQ

At the time, Air Niugini had a fleet of 12 DC3's. The aircraft above was mounted at Jackson Airport

Port Moresby and named Larry Blackman. It was dedicated to the memory of all pilots who lost their

lives while flying in Papua New Guinea.

However, it was this particular aircraft that Larry and I flew together on many occasions. In fact my first flight

with Larry was in this aircraft P2-ANQ from Lae to the Trobian Islands and return. During the latter stages of WW2,

President Dwight Eisenhower assigned this aircraft to General Bernard Montgomery as his personal transport in

Europe.

It was the only aircraft in the Air Niugini fleet with electric boost pumps, a rear buffet and a 28 seat

forward facing configuration. It was a dream to fly.

When it was finally dedicated to the above status as a perpetual trophy, it was a very low time aircraft (16,000 hours).

The great Larry Blackman retired from Air Niugini in the latter part of the 1970's and died not long after.

I don't think thgis one should qualify for 2 reasons.

  • 1. it's more junk than a plane.
  • 2. It's for sale and it is therefore not permanently located.

I glimpsed this one when I drove passed it. It is brightly painted yellow and has a 1920's-30's Truck parked near it in some sort of display.

I'm guessing it as a DH8

That particular OV-1 apparently has been purchased by a group I volunteer my time with. The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation, also known as the Sky Soldier's Demonstration Team, an airshow performance group, has worked out a deal for aquiring this aircraft to be set up as a display bird to be posted near our hanger based at Tara Field, just south of Hartsfield IAP in Hampton, next to Atlanta Motor Speedway. From what I gathered from one of our pilots, the Army agreed to use one of their CH-47 Chinook helicopter's to sling load this bubba 50 or 60 miles (I'm not sure) down to our airport. It will be a great comodity to have down there. Kinda like a sign to a museum As to when they'll move it, I'm not sure.

It's a vampire, the town is Wagga Wagga NSW, it's got a small RAAF base used for primarily training technical airmen.
