Someone did have a complete list of many military installations around the globe, especially United States, but I guess they deleted them. So, I take their place in providing you a list of military bases.

What you have labled as MCB Camp LeJeune is incorrect.
Notice the capital 'J' also.
I don't think the General would appreciate that.

Excellent post! A couple of references for AF bases are http://www.airforcebase.net/usaf/joeslist.html , and http://www.airforcebase.net/ .
Just as a matter of information, virtually all USAF bases in the UK were called RAF bases (I realize you may already know this....) Examples: RAF Lakenheath, RAF Fairford, RAF Sculthorpe, RAF Brize Norton, RAF Wethersfield, etc.
What we were always told is that the Queen (the Crown--the blokes,) actually own the land--that was the reasoning. The one exception I know about was High Wycombe. There was a RAF High Wycombe, and a USAF High Wycombe. The latter was on Daws Hill. A non-flying base, incidentally.
More bits of squit: RAF Booker, a long-closed real RAF base, was the site for the filming of "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines." Filmed in the early 60s. It's a humorous look at at the England-to-France flying competition from about 1910. Video's available, and worth tracking down if you like seeing early flying machines. Sarah Miles isn't too shabby, either...

I been deployed to NTC 7 times and none was really plesent. But once you get out in the box and out of the dust bowl then it can be fun.

The location you show for the New London CT Sub Base is incorrect - you've actually marked the Electric Boat shipyard where subs are built. The Sub base is a few klicks upriver, north of the Gold Star Memorial Bridge.

Fleet Activities Yokosuka's a few miles too far south. It's actually on the big peninsula to the north ... the one with the aircraft carrier docked at it.

Thanks for re-doing the list ,but I found an error. Lajes Field (not a USAF base because it is Portuguese Air Force (I think it was called Fuerza Aeronaves Portugal) is on the EAST end ofthe island of Terceira, next to Lajes village, and just North of Praia da Vittoria. And, Praia is the location of the U.S. Army TTU Terceira.
I'm really NOT being critical (you did a lot of work to duplicate this list!), but I am pushing accuracy.

Outstanding work!
Wanted to give you a little correction. Naval Support Activity Mid-South is actually about 7.5 miles northeast of where you marked it (that's the Memphis DuPont chemical plant at US-51 and Fite Road). NAVSUPPACT is the large, developed area south of Navy Road at approximately 35°20'04" N, 89°52'20" W with street names like Oriskany, Tarawa, Ticonderoga, Essex, Hornet, etc. . . . all ship names.
Prior to the Base Realignment and Closure Commission recommendation in '93, the former NAS Millington also included the airfield to the north of Navy Road.

Each year the Times newspapers (Army Time, Navy Times, Air Force Times) publishes a complete listing of military bases (non classified of course) around the world.
With so many bases closing each year, it's really hard to keep up. Therefore I propose that we do a collective project and mark bases that are no longer active as well as the active ones. I for one have been retired for 25 years now and there's only one base left in the States that I served on that's still active - Fort Lewis. Everything else has been closed. Same for overseas, most of my assigned bases are no longer active. By marking them anyway, old school soldiers like myself, can locate our old installations - over a bottle of Yellow Dog of course. Now I need to learn how I can mark bases and other objects so they show up in everyone's Google Earth.

What you have labeled as the Charleston Naval Weapons Station Nuclear Sub Base is actually the Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU), Charleston, SC. These are two Moored Training Ships (MTS). The two subs are decommissioned and now just used for training purposes. There is another NPTU at Ballston Spa, NY.

RAF FYLINGDALES in uk is 8 miles southwest of placemark, its actually at 54.3599° -0.667893°, its easily visible.

Researchers from US universities, NGOs Transnational Institute and Fellowship of Reconciliation have used official sources, security websites, and private research to map more than 800 bases in more than 60 countries. The US has by far the largest number of bases, but French, British, German, Russian, as well as joint international bases such as NATO and EUFOR bases have all been mapped.

The resulting Google Earth programme is a striking visualisation of the extent to which foreign military bases in the 21st Century reach right across the globe. It also points to why there is growing community resistance against military bases from Greenland to French Polynesia, Paraguay to Korea, which has crystallised into a powerful global movement (www.no-bases.org). A report, Outposts of Empire: The case against foreign military bases, by TNI in March 2007 (http://www.tni.org/detail_pub.phtml?know_id=60&menu=) revealed that foreign bases are not just used for launching controversial wars like the invasion of Iraq but also have devastating impacts on local communities, including damage to their health, economies and their environment.
For security reasons, countries often do not provide detailed information on the exact locations of their foreign military bases and installations. As a result, the map is still far from complete. However it is hoped that the map will evolve and improve in the coming months with the help of activist and researcher’s inputs from all over the globe. Did you ever stop to think they may have deleted them for a reason? Say...national security mabey? Some things should probably be kept secret....before we lose the privilege of this wonderful Google Earth. .....Just a thought.....

Your placemark for Ovda Airbase/Int'l Airport in Israel is actually Aqaba King Hussein International Airport in Jordan! Ovda is 23 miles NNW and has several placemarks already - but it would be good to correct your database.

I spoke extensively with the CTO of Google this morning and he promises me on video that Google has never been asked to block any part of their images by the U.S. Government much to his surprise. If you have something that contradicts that statement, I would love to call his bluff and take it to him to see it.

You marker for CFB Wainwright is a little off. Wainwright is about 78 miles SE of there and has a marker on it. Loc 54 46 20N 110 57 42W

Your location of Bolling AFB is south of the actual location. You've marked Naval Research Laboratory.
Los Angeles AFB ("the only AFB without a runway!") is at 33°55'08.61" N 118°22'50.43" W

I think it's cool that you compiled this list. I have searched for a few that I was stationed at through the years. Surprisingly you have a couple that I had already found, namely Comanche Base and Taszar, Hungary. Were you there?
Anyway, I have a couple more but unfortunately I'm not that savy in the ways of the computer so I have no idea how make links to these places. I don't know if anyone has heard of McNair Kaserne near Frankfurt, Germany or Camp Thunderbird in Saudi Arabia during the first gulf war. I've located these and would like to make links to them for everyone who might be interested.

A few of the Marine Corps Bases in Japan are waaaaay off. This being Camp foster, Camp Courtney, Iwakuni. Also a lot of the Korean ones are off as well.

The marker for the Bremerton Naval Station is centered smack dab in the middle of Macy's in the Kitsap Mall, located in Silverdale, Wa instead of Bremerton. I believe Subbase Bangor and the Naval Shipyard both have markers though. ^_^

Just to let you know... Camp Lejeune is a complex. Camp Geiger and Camp Johnson are where you've placed the Lejeune (and btw, the 'j' is not capitalized as one other user stated). The actual Lejeune area is to the southeast across the New River Inlet (coordinates:
34°39'49.79"N 77°20'34.37"W.
In addtion, where the rifle range is located is known as Courthouse Bay (though my fellow Marines call it something else (I will leave that up to you to decipher)). The most southerly complex in that area is where I used to live -- French Creek. And no, this isn't some secret that I am giving away. It is public knowledge.

As far as I know the Daws Hill base was always called RAF Daws Hill. It is built above a WWII bunker (which was maintained through the Cold War) and until last year (2007) was a NATO base housing admin functions of many nationalities' military including Canadian navy & military logistics, and the US forces' London Central High School.
Daws Hill base security is provided by UK Military Police.
The High School closed last summer (2007) and I believe the US is no longer represented there.

The base on the Kintyre peninsula in Scotland that you have designated "RAF Campbeltown" is actually "RAF Machrihanish", now closed, I served there from 1978-1979. It was also used as Campbeltown Airport by commercial aircraft.

Another little error for you. What you have marked as RAF Henlow is in fact Luton Airport. It is London's fourth airport handling mostly low budget flights to European destinations. The main home of the airline EasyJet
