"In view of the historical circumstances of the birth of Hungarian literature, it is little wonder that literature in Hungary became at the earliest stage of its development a vehicle for service. The Hungarians were latecomers on the medieval European scene, and felt isolated on account of their language and outlandish traditions. Literature had to serve their transformation into a fully-fledged member of the European community of nations." Czigány Lóránt: A HISTORY OF HUNGARIAN LITERATURE From the Earliest Times to the mid-1970's ![]() List of Hungarian writers on wikipedia 22 of them in KMZ so far... g

Quote: ah, still have problem with the screenies? my method: 1. made a screenshot using "Print Screen" button of the keyboard. 2. started PaintShopPro and chosen "Edit / Paste as new image" 3. selected "Crop tool" and croped the section out of the screenshot. 4. saved croped image as JPEG to my computer. 5. uploaded the JPEG to photobucket.com 6. pasted IMG code* into the post. (it took cca. 1 minute) hope this helps! g *on host pages you can generate various picture display codes for your uploaded images as UBB or HTML IMG code, full image or clickable thumbnail for each and direct link. |

Hy there. I just wanted to say that the birthplace of Kazinczy Ferenc is most likely to be misplaced in Google Earth maps. There is another Simian, in Bihor county... now he is placed in Simian - Mehedinti County. Thanks, |

hi Drow & welcome to the community! thanks for raising attention there are two Simian but one with different s letter. now we know the one with the tailed "s" is in Bihor county and called Érsemjén in hungarian language. the meaning is from the old, hungarian 'Semjén' male name. 'Ér' signs 'creek' in it i think. when i searched 'simian' in GE it leaded me to the Simian with the simple 'S' in Mehedinti county. i would have better searched for 'érsemjén' which would leaded me to another one of mine*... ![]() shame i did not remembered for the settlement. file attached to the original post has been updated! very useful first post! thanks again and cu, g * Hungarians swept abroad |
