Keyhole Art/Google Art

With the new database and a much more detailed lowest resolution earth to look at, we can really see lots of abstract art pieces created by the various land and water and other features. If you see something that can be cropped down nicely to fill the viewer frame, show it to the rest of us here. There are some already placemarked in the BBS than can also be imported here. Best with roads and borders off.

EDIT: And don't miss this wonderful collection by Seer. And this by trvlnman
Favourite screenshots in Google Earth is another great one started by JosieNorden.
More from RWFG

EDIT: I just came across this thread of Earth Art locations (post # 3182 !!! - now that in Keyhole/Google Earth terms is ancient ). These were created with .eta files, predecessor to .kml and .kmz. They had to be converted to be saved and in the process lost all tilt, altitude and direction data. Only location was retained. So they will look nothing like they originally did, also because imagery has changed in many places. But zooming in and rotating and tilting may give an idea why they were originally selected as art.

EDIT: There is another collection here by mudshark

I am surprised no one has pointed the Lena River delta out yet (I did search for Lena).

The delta made NASA's Visible Earth list http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/view_rec.php?id=3451

I suppose the GE view isn't as spectacular as printing the poster on a 36"x48". In order to see the entire delta one has to be quite high up, and that does blurr the imagery details.

My contribution to an inspiring thread.

Various from my recent travels.

Far-away/close-up and includes:-

Some straight forward, though stunning, views and bold colours.

A few obligitory fractals. I think there's a real irony with this type as the resolutions on GE increase - it could go on forever.

Visual trickery. These are in some respects my favourites and there's such a range:-

- So other-worldy that you have no idea of altitude or oriental you are or what you're looking at.

- False3DReverseThingy. When viewing from above, as I tend to do, sometimes you get a false 3D effect - things come out you when they shouldn't. Dry river basins do this alot - they look like mini-mountain ranges.

- Makes you think of something familiar. Very much down to the viewer these - you either see them or you don't. (Is there a "Famous Faces seen in the landscape" thread, with overlays, yet?).

On that note I'm off to see if I can find any 'Magic Eye' pictures hidden away anywhere - some of those Deserts look promising - hope you enjoy the views.

Hello.

I was looking to your kml two weeks ago. Well. By my analyses is it some kind of key, significant made with mathematical, geography's and sacred geographies results.
From your place I went all over the world and result is exactly same as I got with another formula from another part of the world. It is Sudan. Western and mid west Sudan. There is something connecting Islam in bad or good position.

But for deeper studies I need better map, with more accuracy.

And much more. Your klm calculating with this mathematical geographical and sacred geographical way is showing interesting country. Pyongyang, North Korea, Border between South and North Korea. Line stops 100 km from Japan"s beach in their waters. If line and international pressure will be in high level, Tokyo can be out of the map. Not only Tokyo. Also Pyongyang, eastern Iran and west Sudan. But Chinese are hiding something inside of mountain. As Iran's as well.
