Sky problem, Help?

Hi people,

I am new here and new to Google Earth.

It may be something I am doing or not doing, but when I click the little planet button on the top tool bar it zooms in to the Pinwheel Galaxy in the center of my screen.

I looked up Help and it said go to Paris and click the planet button to show the sky above Paris. Well I did that and it briefly showed some stars and then panned to the Pinwheel Galaxy in the center of my screen.

Is this how it is supposed to work?

I'd like to see the stars above the current location I was viewing on the ground.

Thanks for any help.

Dave

Re: Sky problem, Help?

Dave, I hope someone answers your question as I have the same one.
The interface is about as intuitive as brain surgery.

Re: Sky problem, Help?

Hi Dave, welcome to the GEC.

Just check to see if you have a placemark KMZ that you may have downloaded to your " My Places Panel" activated and if so, un-check the box so your viewer doesn't go to it.

If you have any placemarks activated for view in the earth viewer, they will be effective after you switch to Sky, so best to turn them all off to utilize the Sky features to their fullest.

Cheers.
