Every episode of TV's "Miami Vice" opened with a view of The Atlantis, an interesting modern condominium complex at 2025 Brickell in Miami, Florida. To quote the architects at Arquitectonica , "The building's sky court with a palm tree, red corkscrew stair and blue pool became synonymous with tropical modernism and a symbol of Miami's own new architecture." It also became synonymous with Miami Vice.

It's actually funny, when you see it, it's not a big building, and it't totally surrounded on all sides by bigger buildings. GE's views of Miami are outdated and simply do not convey the vertical world that is Miami, there has been a massive amount of construction since this picture was taken (200+ high rise structures).
However, even when everything gets taller and bigger, the Atlantis still stands out, not because it's huge, but because it's almost surreal. The empty space in the middle looks like a living room almost. All of Miami and Miami beach is pure art deco high rise mania, and this is one of the 10 or so world famous buildings.

If you are interested in other "Miami Vice" locations on Google Earth, there is a forum devoted to locating and placemarking them. They then take screenshots of the placemark locations.

Yep, style - the music, colors, lighting and camera angle - is what first drew me in to the series. As the series progressed, the photography became just average.
