I've found a Galaxy?

This probably isn't a new discovery, but I was browsing through the sky and found what looks like a galaxy. However it is unlabeled. I don't know how many galaxies are unlabled. I will be extremely excited if this is a new find. Chances are one in a trillion.

That's very likely.
Btw, there are two more galaxies near by.
They actually pretty easy to find, if you look hard.

To get a real appreciation of how many galaxies there are, go to Hubble Showcase > Clusters of galaxies layer and try out some of the options. If you want to find other galaxies and help to identify them there's this interesting site >>> http://galaxyzoo.org/Project.aspx

I dunno. I think that could be NGC 2281, NGC 2375, or NGC 2294. Or if you're REALLY lucky, it could be a new find.

hi pokemonman!
if you crop those catalog numbers to the "Search the sky" row in your GE you will see that neither of them is the one juggernot has found.
however the galaxy is so visible that i hardly can believe it has not been catalogised yet.
it must be a missing data of GSky.

I'm curious to know how accurate the Google Sky maps are. One thing I do know is that this one would be too faint to pick up with my 70mm binoculars or 127mm Maksutov.

If I found something like this, I'd be tempted to try and see it visually first.
