Airplane near smoke in this post, firefighter or spotter plane maybe. It's a twin engine or I might think I found Steve Fossett.

Follow up post to previous animation of 24hr timespan

Viewing Tips:

set time slider options to:

* Clamp to beginning of Window

or

* Expand Slider by 1 day

or

* select Bounce mode to view reverse time

USDA Forest Service thermal imagery [Re: BonzoOnFMB]

A USDA Forest Service research aircraft using a thermal infrared imaging system captured these image mosaics. The thermal infra-red sensor used to collect this data records the amount of energy radiated from the surface, producing a temperature map of the bare ground, vegetation, and ash layers. In these images, the cooler unburned vegetation and the still-warm ash layer are black to gray, the hotspots are red, and areas of flaming combustion are orange.
