Good luck.

Looks like a camera shot...

It IS a camera shot, you can see the monitor frame.

Correct rope length for hanging oneself, by weight [Re: vanaj]

(snip-snip-snip) The radar/eyewitness sightings that were published in the magazine were from official sources...the eyewitness was an employee of Hilton and knew what the plane looked like...he saw it flying SW towards Bodie,CA from Nine Mile Ranch, then back towards Nine Mile Ranch (Hilton owns that also) then towards Powell Canyon...it was picked up on radar entering Powell Canyon then lost briefly at it went west along highway 359 then did a "U-Turn and headed back towards Whiskey Flats, and spotted again on radar then it was not seen on radar after passing Whiskey Flats...this was 10:06AM...

I know that my question is perfectly silly, but... Do you think that it could exist a means for us to obtain the exact coordinates of this (beep) radar path? (...or shall we have to wait 3 months for a women's magazine have published it? )

I try to keep a minimum of sense of humor, but in fact I'm still mad with rage about this. Obviously we cannot do a decent job if we expect that our primary info will came from some medias 3 months later.

For three months we tried to (beep) imagine what could happen during a routine quiet flight at a suitable altitude, while in fact more credibly SF was calming down his nerves in the bottom of the canyons with a plane full at 3/4 with fuel (and we can all go back to find in our garbage cans all our previous suppositions about technical breakdowns, nuts and bolts of strut, etc. what we had abandoned from the beginning...)

Next time (if occurs...) I really think that we should study an operating procedure in order to send "accredited observers" on the terrain to obtain the early info. At least, if we can't expect something better, the original text of press conferences...

Nevertheless, you wouldn't think so but this group of trees is all the same 40 x 50ft, this object may be the top of anything else greater...

Exactly my thoughts!

.....and I really really dislike snow! vanaj, you ever tried xcountry skiing?

DemianC, I'm very disappointed, I think that the Grand Master don't appreciate our plans to make him go camping until spring on this quiet and unspoiled spot...

What are we doing about possible old wrecks we run across?

These crash sites should be posted on the website so people can get an idea of what crashes look like in GE. If you want, you can PM the coordinates to me and I will keep a list and set up a page on the website for them, unless you need them for illustrations for your tutorial.

I mean officially, what are we doing?

That WAS my point exactly...

During the MTurk days those possible sites were being PM'd to me and I had a list when I was headed that way to check out and gather info/pictures and drop off at the local FAA office if they had not been reported or investigated...

The one site I did find had been investigated a there was even a cross with the pilots name on it at the crash site...

There was a posting with GE links of known crash sites..but it was not a real complete list...( http://www.acc.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-060410-012.doc )

Well..since we were considered unwanted and unwelcome help by the local law enforcement I bet they didn't feel we needed that information as we would only use that information for evil and not good...you have to remember while CAP was involved in the search it is still a missing persons case and the local Sheriff is in charge...that is unless the NTSB showed up...

Exactly. With InternetSAR.org being up and running and based on everything we learned from the original MTurk/VS search efforts we should now have a much better system of analysis and reporting procedures in place. I am hopeful that we will have a much better working relationship with future search efforts and thus those teams will be more willing to share the intelligence we need or at least ensure to provide us with imagery based on the best available intelligence.
