Mount Rushmore memorializes the birth, growth, preservation and development of the United States of America.
Between 1927 and 1941, Gutzon Borglum and 400 workers sculpted the 60-foot busts of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln to represent the first 150 years of American history.
Visitors to the memorial come primarily to view the granite sculpture itself, but also of interest is the Sculptor's Studio built under the direction of the artist, Gutzon Borglum, in 1939.
Borglum, a student of the great French artist Auguste Rodin, was one of America's most successful artists before he even considered Mount Rushmore. His Mares of Diomedes was the first work by an American artist ever purchased by New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has five statues on display at the U.S. Capitol Building.

Rubbish. If I did not know what it was supposed to be I would not have a clue. It looks better without the overlay. but that is still poor.

I would have to agree with the poor thing that is....
I was there the other day.... and I realized the Q was not there... YET... ?? !! ??
And then... also looks like what was a "fogged" in day.... ok... fine. At least I am from the San Francisco area and had a view of more details before I got over that way....
I also said this "quote" to another poster earlier today....
This stuff is amazing -- give a little break!!
But I don't think that applies here... because as you say... it looked better before than now.... Now it doesn't look "REAL" -- does it?
I hope that is not how overlays are going to flavor our world here....

sorry- it seems to me the overlay makes it much more difficult to see the actually formations. i was even looking in the wrong place until i made the overlay more transparent and saw where it really was.

That is because, as seer has noted in his original post, the imagery has been improved since he originally posted the attachment.

Still, a cloud is over the mountain, making it very difficult to see the sculpture.

The pictures are great, I know at least one site that are specific to the issues of American History where you can upload your pictures and will be very appreciated. http://www.theamericanhistoryclub.com/blogs/ But anyway you were able to capture the whole thing in great focus, and it is not so easy so good for you.
