It might also be the case that one of the galaxies is much closer to us than the other. If that's the case, and the distance between the two is more than, say, 50 or 100 million light-years, there would be no gravitational interaction between the two. Without knowing the distance to the two galaxies, you can't say that the two are colliding. It might just be a coincidental alignment on the face of the Sky. Nice find, though. The one to the south west appears to be gravitationally distorted. So, they are probably in the process of colliding / merging.
