I was wondering if the galaxy near the eliptical core is in front or is at back of this galaxy, great find! Apparently the professional astronomers think it's interesting as well. Google "NGC 5701", there's an article about its structure: http://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0301072 Apparently NGC 4608 is considered similar to your guy.
