Great addition to the Keyhole airforce! More of the same near the end of the nearby runway. Also, at the placemark, a pilot doing a "Touch and Go", as he approaches runway threshold for landing. At the other end of the runway, you can see him gaining altitude a little off center, just after take-off.

Look at other end of runway and see plane west of placemark on takeoff and its shadow east of placemark on ground.

Those look like a couple of constellations at the east end of the runway, one in commercial paint and the other Navy. I'm interested in planes but not a pilot other than the flight sim kind. What is this (see eta) that is see examples of at many smaller airports?

Looks like QF-4s painted up in drone paint scheme here at NAS Point Mugu. More to the east end of the runway. An image here.

These are landing strip segmented lights for navigation and
have alignment with runway. There will usually also be a
wind sock in the center . This post shows another.

Deshoveled, I believe that the plane at the west end of Runway 26 is the same plane as the one approaching the east end for a "touch and go". What do you think?

You must be correct since I dont think they let planes follow this close. Wow , I never thought about it but " two snapshots" I suppose. Good one JUMBLE> I think the plane is drifting to the right just a little to much so maybe he is a rookie.

Perhaps this image will help. It seems these are E-1 Tracers, predecessor to the E-2 Hawkeye. They were first used in 1954 as early warning craft. Carrier based, they have folding wings. There are also several E-2s if you look a bit to the south. Take a particular look a the first picture in the series. It looks like part of the collection seen in this attachment. Hill, These circles actually are called "Segmented Circles", and they serve two main purposes:
Purpose #1: To indicate the traffic pattern at the airport. What you may ask is a Traffic Pattern"?
Left Traffic Pattern
As you can see, all the turns are to the left, and the airport is to the left of the aircraft. This is the standard or default pattern at U.S. airports.
If the traffic pattern is reversed for one reason or another (Right Traffic Pattern), then we would have to let pilots know. We use the Segmented Circle to do this. If the circle has NO arms sticking out, then ALL runways at the airport use Left Traffic. If ANY runway uses Right Traffic, then arms (giant L's) will stick out of the circle indicating the Base and Final legs for ALL runways.
Notice the pattern for the left to right landing runway is Left, while the pattern for the right to left runway (yes we can land going in either direction) is Right Traffic.
Why so many runways and directions to land? The wind my friends, the wind! We pilots like to land and takeoff into the wind. Which brings us to the second purpose of the segmented circle, some place to put the main wind indicating device. From the sky, it is much easier to spot the big white segmented circle, than the little orange wind sock. But now we know where to look.
Oh, forgot to mention why we would have Right Traffic instead of left... Look at the airport in the attachment... Now try to guess which side of the airport the Mayor lives! Remember it is Right Traffic for runway 29 and Left Traffic for 11. This means planes will mostly be on the North side of the airport. And they won't be flying over the Mayor's house!
