Bombing range for NAS Fallon, true enough. The target are to the east is active. There are personnel who man the site and grade the hits. Night strikes are cool to watch from a discreet distance. Unfortunately, this range has claimed several aircraft crews.

I was stationed at Fallon when the base was then NAAS Fallon. That was back in the 60's and was a member of the range crew there. Bravo-19 was then, and apparently still is a high explosive bombing range.. hence the circle as most of you have said. Had some pretty good times out there. If memory serves me correctly I do not think this range was manned. Most of the spotting took place in the air from the squadrons spotter planes. Probably 100 more times advanced now from what it was then .

Some of you are correct and some are way off. I know this area very well the circular mark with a road going through it is no longer in use it was a practice bombing bulls eye. the buildings to the east are towers and complexes for managing the area. there are 3 towers that watch as aircraft bomb different targets. the center tower which looks like theres bunkers next to it are actually not bunkers but sound barriers for the small arms range. if you look to the north you see tank targets there are 3 seperate tank areas. there still active and of course very dangerous the frisbie is also and active bullseye. in the center is large cans that mark the center of the bullseye for scoring. i have been on this range many times and love what i do but i cant release that kinda of info, there are other targets around in the mountains to the north. theres also 3 other bombing ranges in the area. try to find those ones and you will have lots more questions!!!
