Many of the submarines docked at Bremerton are decommissioned. Note the bunch stacked with USS Long Beach. Currently, the USS SEAWOLF (SSN-21), USS CONNECTICUT (SSN-22), and USS JIMMY CARTER (SSN-23) are based out of Bremerton.

USS Iowa was not the last battleship of her class, she was the first. She wasn't the last to fire her 16" guns either, that honor goes to the USS Wisconsin and the USS New Jersey, both of which were on duty during Desert Storm.
The picture of her at Suisan Bay Reserve Fleet is her correct current position, and we Iowa Vets eagerly await the outcome of her final fate.
Please feel free to visit USSIOWA.Org for more information on this great ship and the men who sailed her.

This is the USS Long Beach CGN 9. I served on it for 2 yrs. It was the only "real" cruiser that was orginally designed to be a cruiser. She was decomissioned in 1994 and dismantled to what you now see. Kinda makes me sick to she her like this. Hope this helps. C
