I

Two prisons in Canada: Fraser Regional Correctional Center in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, and Centre de Détention Riviére des Prairies in Montreal. In both prisons are jailed two Basque prisoners.

The B.C. government is facing criticism over its decision to house inmates in futuristic-looking giant tents next to prisons in Kamloops and Maple Ridge as a temporary solution to overcrowding. Futuristic giant tents are being set up next to the Fraser Regional Correction Centre in Maple Ridge, B.C.
Solicitor General John van Dongen said Tuesday the structures are secure and sophisticated, with air conditioning and heating systems.
"They have remote control automatic doors," he said. "They have surveillance cameras. And I want to emphasize these will only be [used for] low-risk offenders.
The structures will house about 150 inmates while new permanent buildings go up, van Dongen said.
There are 1,557 jail cells in all of the province's correction centres, but on average they have to accommodate 2,545 inmates, government figures show. On any given day, the jails operate at 170 per cent of their capacity (CBC News, April 16, 2008).

Of interest regarding Anamosa State Pen. is it was the 1st place John Wayne Gacy Jr. ever saw prison time. For such a small prison, it had an awfully infamous inmate. Very few people realize Gacy did his first time in an IOWA State Pen., long before his stretch in ?Joliet?, somewhere in Illinois.

The correction (no pun intended) has not been made, as yet to the minor error of labeling Southeaster Correction Center (SECC) as Bridgewater State Hospital. Strangely enough, the dilapidated SECC, built before the turn of the century, was the ORIGINAL Bridgewater State Hospital and the subject of the extremely sad and moving documentary, "The Titicut Follies", the only film ever banned in the US for reasons other than obscenity or national security.

I had the displeasure of serving part of a 3 1/2 year drug sentence there javascript:void(0)and I was also "committed" there for 90 days of involuntary "treatment." I was tortured, stripped naked, and forced to exist in an empty concrete room with no plumbing or light for 3 weeks. THAT was the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' idea of "treatment." As a prison there, years later, I was harassed and fought with the guards, visited with my family in a rat-infested visiting room, and locked up in the "hole" for extended periods.

I was there for the attacks on 9/11 and there was violence against Muslim prisoners. Shortly after I was transferred to a lower security setting (against the recommendation of the administrators of SECC), the pit was closed down.

It does not sit idle, however. It serves as a twisted "training ground" for the parasitic prison guards to further hone their sadistic skills. Thankfully, the lost dungeons, tiny brick cells without plumbing, and inhumane conditions no longer house prisoners, who have been transferred to higher-tech, sterile Hells around Massachusetts.

Take care all!
JJW

I hate to tell you this but your prison mark is really a car repair shop, I use this place often for various reasons.
